Running

21 April 2016: Thank you Mystery Runner

Tonight’s run at Memorial Park was still hot and humid.  Low 80s and the humidity was also in the low 80s.

The first mile was really rough.  My allergies bothered me, the sun was hot, the shade was nonexistent and I think that I really didn’t want to run. About the time I started, I saw this woman walking just a short distance in front of me.  I almost caught up with her when she started a slow run.

Thank goodness!  I used her as my pacer.  When she ran, I ran.  When she walked, I walked.  That helped me get through the first mile and a little more.  Then she left the path to go to the drinking fountain.

After that, my run went a little better.  My lungs cleared up, my legs felt stronger and I was able to run just a little more and a little faster.  Thank you very much Mystery Runner!  You don’t know how much you helped me today.   While the weather was hot and humid, I finished today’s run over 2 minutes faster than Tuesday’s run.  I ran 3.1 miles in 41:16 (not PR pace but respectable).

(Only 15 days left…)
