30 Jan 2016: ChocoLoco 5k – PR!

Today I ran the ChocoLoco 5k at Uptown Park, my second 5k since I started training.  My goal was to break 40 minutes and I did!!  38:48.8, Pace 12:30.   I’m very happy.   I was hoping to see some improvement from my 3x week training and I saw it today.

I used my Zombies Run App! to record my time and distance and when the app said I had reached 1 mile with a pace of less than 12 minutes, I was very surprised as it usually tells me I’m at 13:30 or 14 minutes.   But I kept running.  I made it all the way to 2 miles before I had to take my first walk break.  That, in itself, was a personal best.  2 miles without stopping!!

The last mile was a combination of running and walking.  My pace increased a bit to 13:00 but the early 2 miles helped offset my average.   I felt great when I crossed the finish line.
