05 Dec 2017: Last hot slow run of the season

Today’s slow run at Memorial Park was just difficult.  It was mid-70s with high humidity. While I normally can get my 3 miles in without stopping, today I stopped and walked several times. I had to keep telling myself, “You are not going to die…keep going…keep going…” I finished but it wasn’t pretty.

Here are the stats:  2.85 miles, 38:48 minutes, pace 13:36, Memorial Park

I think that this is the last hot day of the season which hopefully means its the last hot run of the season.  I’m glad I suffered through it and its finished, but I’m looking forward to better runs in cooler weather.

I’m still struggling with what to wear based on the weather.  It seems here in Houston, its either hot, hotter or too hot.  That means that my normally running gear is a tank top, running bra and running shorts.  But even that is sometimes too hot.  All of my running shorts are black and they attract the heat.  Maybe its time to invest in some other color?  This last week, however, I did get a great deal on new running shorts.  Lucy had a sale and the longer shorts (5″) were only $14.99!  Normally these are almost $60!  A few days later I realized that Lucy is going out of business and NorthFace will be taking over some of the Lucy clothing lines.  All of my favorite yoga pants, athleisure pants and an athletic skirt are from Lucy so I hope that NorthFace keeps the core line in place.

Slow run on a dry hot running trail

A cold front is coming through tomorrow and its bringing rain and possibly even sleet.  I normally run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and do yoga on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but I think the weather is going to mess me up.   I guess I’ll just wait and see.  Maybe I’ll just need to be tough and run in the rain.
