6/4/2016: Heights 5k Race recap

Rain, rain go away….come again another day!

It was wet and rainy on Saturday morning for the Heights “Run the BLVD” 5k!  I arrived around 6:45am just in time to be in the photos taken by Coach Joan of our 9 to 5 group.  Even with the bad weather, there was 20 of us!  Much of the core group and even a few that I didn’t know that showed up to run.   We warmed up and then before we knew it – the race was on.

I ran with both Connie and Kathryn and we kept a steady 13:00 pace, not stopping until we came to the first water station.  After we gulped our waters and caught our breaths, we set our sights on the turnaround point, which happened to be the 2nd water station!  Our pace was a little slower for the second mile averaging 13:33 but the last mile (and the last water break) we were back in the groove averaging 13:00.  All-in-all a good run with a final finish time of 40:44.  Both Connie and Kathryn PR’d and this is the first 5k that I’ve run with hardly any walk breaks.

It was nice running without my music, just keeping pace with my two friends.  I hope that we have other opportunities to run together again.
