Running

3/12/2016: Slow, easy run

Today at the running clinic, we went for a longer run.  Some of the runners went over 5 miles.  Our coach asked us to run one way for about 22-25 minutes and then come back.  With no particular distance in mind, we set out to run along the bayou.   I ran with Kathryn who is about my age (actually  a little younger) and also a beginner (she started running a few months after me).   It was really nice running with her and having someone to talk to instead of listening to my music.  Since I skipped my Thursday workout this week (giving my rib a little chance to heal), I felt pretty good today.

It was also my first outdoor run with my new TomTom Runner watch.  I started the GPS program while we were walking towards the Bayou and stopped it once we were completely done.   Including the slow paced walking warm-up, we went 3.32 miles in 50:54 minutes for a 15:19 pace.   Katherine said that she has never run as much as she did today!   I finished feeling like I could have gone another mile, so that was also a good result for me.  I usually feel like I’m ready to collapse!

Maybe I’ll feel good enough to run again tomorrow!
