6 May 2016: It’s finally here and I’ve told my sister

Well the day is finally here!  My husband and I arrived at LAX and then caught a car service to our hotel in Anaheim.  When we arrived, my mom and sister were already checked in.  When we went to their room to say “hi”, my sister said that she wanted to go to packet pickup right away and also to the Expo to check out the runDisney gear.  She was worried that the runDisney gear would quickly sell out.  When we got downstairs to the car, my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew had just arrived, so we took our niece with us (she’s running the Pixie Dust too)!

We arrived at the Packet pick-up and my sister and niece checked in.  After they had their bibs and other gear, I stepped away from them and went over to the 10k check-in.  My sister realized that I was getting a bib for the 10k and that the runner from Houston that she saw online the other day was ME!  She is very happy and very surprised.  It was definitely worth all the hard work that I’ve put in over the last 6 months to know that I’m gonna run the TinkerBell 10k with my sister on Saturday!   And for an extra bonus, my niece later gave me a very big hug and said it was really great that both her Aunts were running the 10k and that she was too!

  1. This is the sister. I was very surprised yesterday to find out there will be three of us in the 10k … And delighted. It’s been a tough slog training for this #%!# (what was I thinking?!) Pixie Dust Challenge but now after reading the blog I feel inspired. My sister is faster than me (my training this year has focused on endurance) but we’ve gone through a lot of the same aches and pains (oh how I hate/love the foam roller) AND now we get to experience the park together with the beloved niece (who is a tall, beautiful skinny Minnie who will outlope us both). We’ll have fun… while working out … in Disneyland: who even knew that would be possible. But, hopefully not so much fun that I forget how exhausting the training has been and do something stupid, like suggesting a Coast-to-Coast for 2017!
