It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve posted, so its time to catch up.
After the 10k I was pretty tired and sore. I rested for a few days and then resumed my training. My friend and her daughter flew in from Europe for a visit and I was happy that I continued my training – only missing one workout. We walked quite a bit during their visit and I snuck out Saturday morning for a quick 3 mile run close to home. I didn’t break any records but I think the late nights, a little more wine than I’m used to and food off my normal diet certainly had some effect. The workouts were okay but I didn’t see any progress.
On Tuesday, my friends departed in the morning and I went back to work. My Tuesday evening workout was short and slow, but I simply felt good that I finished. Then on Thursday, I had to run in the heat for the first time in quite a while. I only did 2 miles but when I got home and checked my splits, I was surprised to see that my first mile was a 12 minute pace! WOW! and I thought I was running very slowly. It must have been the new Pandora playlist that I listened to. It was a faster beat than my normal playlist.
I didn’t run yesterday (Saturday) but ventured out today. I wanted to do 6 miles but I quit after a little over 3. It was a little warm in the sun and I just didn’t have much energy. I couldn’t even run the first 1/2 mile without walking, which is unusual. I think that I need to increase my veggies, take my vitamins this week and get a little more sleep. It’s amazing how my body is telling me to get back to eating right and taking care of myself.
In 5 weeks, I will be running with my sister. I need to make sure that I’m ready and full of energy. I know that the time will fly by, so I need to seriously up my training. The new 9 to 5 training class starts this Saturday, April 9, so hopefully that will get me back on track.
