I can’t believe its been a year since I last posted on this blog. Life has certainly gotten away from me. In March I took up Yoga and have been going around 3x week since then. It was challenging at first but I’m slowly getting used to it and I’m definitely more flexible now. I can do a decent headstand and I finally did a backbend, but I can’t do some of the splits stretching and the handstand is definitely out of reach.
After the Star Wars 5K and 10k runs in January, I ran for a few months but generally went to a crawl as the weather heated up. I then stopped running completely over the summer! My friend Shelley convinced me to get moving again at the end of July, but it was slow going in August and September. During the normal 3 miles around Memorial Park, I was stopping 6-8 times just to catch my breath and the heat was awful.
Fortunately, we had a few good days in October and I managed to get out and run more than once a week. On 26 Oct, I saw some improvement but my pace was still really slow at 14:16 and still stopping several times around the park.
Today (Sunday, 12 Nov), however, I finally made it 3 miles without stopping. My pace is still slow (13:28) but hopefully that will start improving now that the weather is better. This is only the 2nd time EVER that I have run the entire 3 miles around Memorial Park without stopping! I just need to motivate myself to keep pushing myself to do better.
