Saturday’s workout with Luke’s Locker was a long slow run. Not long if you’re a marathoner or a half-marathoner, but long for someone like me, who doesn’t like running in the heat and had to practically drag myself out of bed! Only 6 people out of the 30+ runners in our current session showed up for the run.
We ran a couple of miles south then turned around and ran back. My first and second mile times were not good at all. On a good day I can walk faster than that! I averaged 15 minute miles. Suprisingly though, I ran a 14 minute mile on mile 3. That was doing a 1/1 run/walk interval. If I didn’t truly believe that run/walk intervals can help improve my time, I believed it after Saturday’s run. When I uploaded my run, I thought for sure that the last mile would be at a crawling pace.
This week, however, will be difficult to put in the additional workouts. I’ll do what I can but I’m looking forward to the cooler weather. It’s only been in the high 80s/low 90s so relief is on the way.
